DPN Financial Analyst Calendar Update
DPN clients who use Financial Analyst need to check and update their Financial Analyst calendar settings for the coming year. The calendar not only governs the drop down options for the accounting period when creating reports, it also provides Financial Analyst with the accounting periods for building the reporting database. When the scheduler runs, it checks the record dates and uses the calendar to place the records in the appropriate accounting period. If the scheduler is running and finding records with January 2009 dates and does not find January 2009 in the calendar, the scheduler will fail. If you see errors on your scheduler, this might be the problem. To resolve, simply update the calendar using the following instructions and rerun the scheduler.

The drop downs for accounting periods are also governed by the Analyst calendar. You can go into a report to select an accounting period only to find that December 2008 is the last available selection. This would indicate your calendar is not updated.

To update your calendar, select Financial Analyst from your Program Files and then select Database Manager. Click Open and there should be one database available. This is your Financial Analyst reporting database. Open that database and on the toolbar at the top of this window find and click on the calendar icon. There will be a Starting and Ending period which you can append by moving them forward. You can set the ending year to any year you want, it does not have to be set through December 31, 2009. You can set it forward to 2012 for example. Just remember the further ahead you set this the longer before you will have to do this again. You may want to set it for December 2009 and make this routine part of your normal year end, noting on your calendar to update the calendar again next year!
